one of my least favorite phrases of all time is, “i guess that’s why you get paid the big bucks.” i hate hearing that from people whom i know make as much or more than i do.
As for pet peeves, mine lately has been people calling in a problem ticket about their laptop running slow (not all the time, just every once in a while). People don’t seem to understand that every computer has a limit to how many applications you can install and run at the same time, especially computers over two and half years old. But of course they won’t let me uninstall any of their programs because they’re so critical to their job. And of course their department doesn’t have the budget for a new computer. So I end up defragging, scanning for adware, etc., with minimal results, and I end up looking incompetent because I can’t fix their “problem”.
Not to mention that it’s usually a poorly paid job with few perks.
