Looking for some input here – be brutally honest with me so I can know the truth. What do you like about The PC Weenies? What would you change? This could be about anything related to the comic: the Toon Mailer, the website, the writing, the art, Guest-Stars, etc. Anything related to the ‘toon is fair game.
I just want to take things to a new level – to make awesome comics and garner more readers and more traffic. Having some insight on what readers like and don’t like will help me understand my readership and give them more of what they want.
Your feedback is immensely appreciated.

P.S. Where should I start targeting the comic? Any good websites or print publications that would be a good fit for promoting my comic?
Here are the pencils and inks for Monday’s comic, with a slightly different bit o’ dialogue – as I originally wrote it.

A few site-related news bits I wanted to share…
1) pcweenies.org now redirects to pcweenies.net – the goal here is consolidate all traffic to one source. pcweenies.org will lay dormant until I decide to do something with it…
2) I’ve sent e-mails to various sites that have graciously linked to The PC Weenies, to update their links to pcweenies.net
3) The Magic Square is still available – if you’d like to place a PCW self-updating badge on your website.

To add a PCW badge to your website, simply right-click on the image above to copy its location, then add a link back to pcweenies.net
4) Effective today, all PC Weenies ‘toons will exclusively be carried on pcweenies.net only – I’ve discontinued comic-mirroring on other websites because it doesn’t really bring any more visitors to the site. If you see my comics mirrored on another site, please let me know.
5) (Unrelated) New Uncubed tomorrow.

Now that I’ve been using Leopard (aka Mac OS X 10.5) for almost a year, I felt compelled to weigh in on its value. The most current version, at this writing, is version 10.5.4 and it’s been a trouble-free computing experience. I am very happy with Leopard, but the fact remains that I do not use several of its touted features.
Let’s take a look at some of the major features I enjoy about Leopard:
1) Spaces – now that the bugs have been more or less squashed, I am very happy with the built-in virtual desktop option.
2) Quick Look – worth its weight in gold for me. The convenience of quickly checking the contents of a file without having to open the application first almost completely justifies the Leopard upgrade.
3) Time Machine – extremely useful and has already saved me a total of 20 man hours. Being able to retrieve a file I accidentally deleted a few weeks or months earlier, is a boon. This feature has saved my bacon on more than one occasion.
Now let’s look at features within Leopard I never use.
1) FrontRow – on a desktop Mac, without a remote control, FrontRow is nothing more than beautiful eye candy. With a remote, there’s some potential.
2) Dashboard – I can’t remember the last time I installed a widget. I never use Dashboard. I would use widgets more often if they could be shared on the desktop. (I’m aware of Amnesty – but I want the solution built-in.)
3) iChat – I have never been able to use the video conferencing capabilities of iChat within Leopard. My parents are on a Leopard system as well, and we’ve never been able to get iChat to work with video or audio. We have routers on both ends, and I’m sure its something related to port-forwarding – but the fact that Skype has no such issues when it comes to video chatting while iChat does – makes iChat nothing more than a wasted application, IMHO.
What about you? If you’re running Leopard – what are your favorite features? What, in your opinion, are its most useless features? Sound off in the comments below.

Here is a turn-around for a character model sheet I drew a few days back. I created it to use as an example for one of the classes I teach.

We just wrapped up the Fantastic 5th episode of the Sequential Artists’ Pub. Some of the topics we addressed in tonight’s show were:
1) The pros and cons of using a pen name for your webcomic
2) The ways a cartoonist can manage the balance between self-deprecation and arrogance in their public persona.
3) Mirror sites – are they worth doing? Self-hosting your webcomic vs free-hosting.
4) To RSS feed or not
We had over 20 people show up to participate in the call and the chat, including:
Hope I haven’t forgotten anyone. If so, let me know. Thanks again to all who came by, for the lively conversation and well-focused discussions!
Got a question for our next show’s mailbag?
Send a note to me at sequentialartistspub AT gmail dot com, or stop by and post your question on the SAP! boards.
