The first story-arc I’ve done in a number of years finally wrapped up on Sunday. It was a lot of fun and I plan to explore more about what makes each member of the Weiner family tick. In the coming weeks, you’ll be reintroduced to some old characters from the Classic PCW days and hopefully see a few new ones.
In an effort to keep cranking comics out each week, I’ve decided to eliminate the coloring process for all regular PC Weenies comics from this point forward. Fear not — all commissioned guest-star comics will continue to be in glorious full-color. The reason behind the decision is, quite simply — I just don’t have as much time these days to color each and every strip.
I hope it’s not too big of a deal.
And speaking of guest-star comics, I’ve got one scheduled to appear on Friday, for a most excellent PCW fan from Germany. Enjoy the comics and tell a friend (or ten) about the PCW!

P.S. Which do you like better: monochromatic or black-n-white?
To me the colouring was an essential part of pcweenies. I hope you can resume full-colour strips when you are less busy.
Personally, I think the comic looks good monochromatic. That is probably why I have a black and white laser printer, but that’s another story.
HA, the ammount of times this has happened to me! – I swear their really are silly people on this planet.

I don’t agree Mathew. to me a very vital part of PCWeenies is the bold colouring used on the strips so far. Had the colouring been less intense or minimal earlier, I would have agreed with you. But because we are so used to PCW being in full bright colour, I think some of the character of the toon is lost in the process of seeing it in B&W.

Now if I could draw comics for a living full-time, and get paid to do it – I’d be coloring in a heart-beat. How can we make this happen? :)
While I do like the mono-chromatic look of the newer strips, I do miss the colorization. You really have a good eye for color and you do it very well.
I understand how life can make you busier that you would like, so I understand the need to save time where you can. keep up the good work and hopefully, one day (hopefully soon :-P), you can return to doing the full-color strips.

Is colouring really that time consuming, Krishna? What technique do you use to colour, by the way? Do you do it digitally?
Note: I don’t ask this as a challenge or anything. Just curious.
Coloring adds an additional 2 hours to my workflow, making it more time-consuming than anything else. I do digitally color and shade (using Photoshop) – and it requires several more steps to properly prep the file before doing so… when PC Weenies was exclusively a single panel, color was not a problem – but I’m factoring in 4 panels instead of one per strip, and it does add up after a while.
Hi Krishna, well, i thought i might chime in as well. I loved the coloring and think that you do have a good eye for color (its almost like you went to art school or something!!# :))
However, I love reading. I now check daily so I like it fresh and let my imagination do the work with the coloring. Dralothien was on point whit not working too hard. …like im one to talk. But you get my drift.
Lastly, I like it black and white rather than mono.
Alright, i promise last statement: a client actually did this to me about 8 years ago!! It was so funny… reasons why i entered the design world and left IT behind…

hey, thanks for the feedback, ryan! I’ll post a few comics next week in black and white so readers can decide which method they like best.

if no color B&W for me…
I think the black & white looks better. It helps give it more of a normal ‘comic-strip’ feel to it. Although color is better, I understand real-life time constraints.

the monochromatic isn’t bad, I’m just noy sure the purple hue is the best, but I’m not going to complain either way.
Much prefer the colors but if forced to choose, I would choose black and white.
